But before I tell you about that, let me just make a correction to an earlier post. I neglected to mention my tiniest baby. My Necchi Supernova!
She may be a toy sewing machine, but this tiny baby has a special place on my book shelf, safe from harm. I found this baby while antique shopping with my sister. She worked on me for a while – I was, as usual, hesitant to spend money, especially on “old” stuff. Well surprise, surprise, I’m very happy I did it!
I even got the original manual with it!
All one long page of it – in FIVE languages though!
Now although it came with a manual, of sorts, and all the moving parts, I can’t adjust the tension properly so my chain stitch is rather sloppy. I won’t be “diving into knits” with this one!

Happy Anniversary! Such a cute sewing machine. I think it would be so cool to own a real antique one like that. I am just about to semi-retire my sewing machine, but it’s only from the 1980’s, so not quite an antique (as much as it feels like it). I’m inheriting a newer model, but I still don’t want to completely give up my old machine since it still works pretty well. Keep up the blogging!

I just got this sewing machine and love it!! And so does my 5 year old — but I can’t figure out even from the manual you kindly posted, how to thread the thread through the tension disk. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Well I can’t say I’m an expert with it! I’m having trouble finding a replacement needle that is not too long or too short. But I tried dragging the thread straight across the top from the spool through the two disks and tightening the tension screw but eventually my thread would pop out. Then I tried wrapping the thread from the spool under the tension discs, between the tension discs and all the way around to the bottom again and out, always staying between the disks and that seemed to work better. I can only get a couple of inches though before my needle gets stuck and makes a mess. I’m sorry I can’t be more help. I remember having one like this when I was small, but I think it was my mother who struggled with the threading and tension when I ran into trouble! Good luck to you and your daughter!
