A Tale of Four Tees – #3

I finished Patternreview’s TNT Tee Contest.  My 4 Tees are done, submitted to Patternreview, now I can finish posting about them here.  I have my Tee #1 here, and my Tee #2 here and here is my Tee #3….  I am still using my Butterick pattern B5988, although this time I have stuck to the instructions (how so unlike me!) for view B.

I love my fabric.  I used a blue floral border print.  It was a Barcelona Knit, 95% polyester, 5% spandex.  I had a little bit of stripe matching in the sleeves (use lots of pins!).  I tried putting the border print at the bottom hem of the top, but the bottom hem was rounded and I didn’t want to mess with that, so I settled with putting the border print at bottom hem of the sleeves.

I hemmed the bottom hem of the top and the sleeves with single fold bias tape, same as Tee #1 and #2, but this time I made a bias tape out of a black knit I had in my stash to hem the neckline.  I still used my 1/4″ seam foot to sew it down neatly.  I didn’t do much different than view B, except I left the waistline tucks out – it is so comfortable without them!  Maybe next time I’ll put the tucks in?  So here is my Tee #3!

No… that’s silly, here is my Tee #3!  It has turned out to be one of my favourite Tees!

It was sunny at home so we decided to go for a walk on the beach and I took my camera along for some special “poses”.  But in typical West Coast tradition, it was foggy at the beach!  Let me show you some non-sewing related mysterious photos, if I may?

  1. Great tee! I like the border print on the sleeves. Can’t wait to see the next one.

    1. Thank you! I love border print. I snatch it up every time I see it!

  2. Love the border print on those sleeve and the overall design is a great shape. Like the photos of the fog!

  3. Very pretty tee and love the misty beach photos, so atmospheric.

  4. Beautiful tee’s and I love the haunting foggy effect in the photos. You are a very talented person.

    1. Oh! Wow. Thank you! And thank you for reading my blog and commenting!

  5. The 3 tees look great. You now have such a variety of outfits to wear with the 3 different tees. I’m looking forward to seeing tee 4. I also liked the shadow picture–It made me think of a spy movie. Your photographs are really neat. The area looks creepy just because of how you took the photos. You are a multi – talented person ☺

    1. Well, thank you kindly! It helps to have mysterious things in front of you! Now if I try to take a photo of myself in my newly sewn outfit… You can’t tell the difference between me and “Dolly”! 😀. Of course, my husband is no help, he likes to take photos of airplanes, hundreds of them, maybe next time I need him to take a photo of something newly sewn, I shall spread my arms out, run circles on the lawn and make engine noises!

      1. Hahaha. Your comment about spreading your arms and running around making airplane noises. Cracked me up. 😁

        1. Ah well… Got to get his attention someway!

  6. I really love the blue color on you it is very flattering tee and the border on the sleeves is very nice. I didn’t know you lived so close to the beach 🙂 I do as well but I have to say I miss those pine trees in Canada 🙁 I got my fill this summer when I went home to visit family. Great job on the pics and project!

    1. Thank you! Isn’t it funny how the colour that is our favourite is usually the one that people say looks good on you – perhaps subconsciously we just know what’s right. You will have to show me your beach in California. Our’s is definitely a “West Coast” beach. Very rarely sandy, you are lucky if the rocks are pebbles and not boulders! Thanks for reading and commenting!

  7. I love your tee. I tried this pattern in a woven – disaster! Did you put in the back zipper?

    1. Oh! Thanks for the warning! I have a white woven fabric and a jade green lace that I was going to make this out of the next time. I will have to be very careful with that, if I do go ahead! I did not put a zipper in it. The knit fabrics stretch very easily over my head. No zipper needed. I put the back bodice piece on the fold too, so no back seam.

  8. Love the fabric choice!

    1. Thank you! I got lucky with some nice fabrics!
