No you’re not getting rid of me that fast. Once me and “Dolly” got hooked up, there was no stopping us! We seem to be enjoying ourselves too much!! Planning, sewing, posting, reading your posts, learning, being inspired, reading and replying to comments … this addiction just goes on and on!
So to celebrate, we have put together a little GIVEAWAY, yes, I said GIVEAWAY!
As I said in last week’s post, I have been sorting through two boxes of sewing patterns given to me by my sister and I have found some vintage ones. Let’s give some away, shall we? I have two patterns. Two patterns means two winners!

To start things off, I’ll answer first. I think my Aunt Helen. I have always been curious to know what kind of training/education she received in the 1920’s to become a seamstress who could make garments without sewing patterns.

I would love to be able to talk to my Mamie again! She first taught me to sew back when I was in primary school, she helped me sew my first sewing bag. It would be so lovely to talk to her about her experiences of sewing, as she was of the generation that made a lot of their own clothes. What a great idea! Gosh, who would I sit with…I would love to have more time with my daughters. We see each other on special occasions but I don’t think we see each other enough.

To answer your question.
I would sit with my Grandmother. I lost her suddenly a year ago and we didn’t get to chat a lot in the end. I would have loved to have her input now as I grow in my sewing. Earlier on when I first started she provided great tips. 🙂

Happy anniversary! 🙂 That’s a great question – so many people come to mind, but I’d love to be able to sit with my great-uncle, Pat, who died when I was a child. He was an expert on everything he tried his hand at whether it was carpentry, beekeeping or poetry. It would be amazing to be able to just sit and talk to him now. I really regret being so shy as a child that I didn’t do that at the time.
Wow, I can just imagine the wealth of knowledge he was! I was the same as a child, just too wrapped up in my own stuff!
Since your post I have been sitting here trying to figure out whose wisdom I could best learn from. I have decided my own. I would sit on this bench and reflect. I have, during my life, been given 2 “do overs” during which I have had months to reflect on “why me” and “what I will do if given another chance” and learned it is not about “I” or “me” it is about what you can give back. Your blog does that, you do that.
I made both those patterns and felt wonderful in them, but thank you for reminding me of how lucky I have been thanks to friends and family. Love you blog.

What a great question! I’d get in a magical time machine and make myself and my mother both the same age–likely in our early 20s before the kids were born. We’d talk about our hopes and dreams and the world in general. It would be fascinating.
