It’s DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER 2016!

I love December … holidays, family, giving …  DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER!

Have you chosen which Designer Original you would like to copy?  Or perhaps, like me, you are already working on your COPY of your Designer Original?

There is so much inspiration out there to feed our DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER ideas … dream garments in the stores, in magazines, on social media … the Fashion Runway… so many beautiful garments!  I say, “Why buy when you can make it yourself – better and for less money?”

I plan on making a COPY of these Designer Original garments …

Ellery Neu
Chloe

… using these patterns, McCall’s M6896 view E and New Look 6433 view A.  I’ll have to make a few alterations to the patterns to get the results I want.

  1. The Versace Dress kind of resembles Vogue 9150 https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v9150

    1. It does! Just choose the right fabrics colours/patterns, throw in some black for contrast, and you’ve got a Versace! Makes me wonder which came first the Vogue or the Versace? LOL 🙂

  2. That Burberry dress is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what you make !

  3. I love this idea!!! I’m in the middle of a designer original and can’t wait to share! I’ll be happy to participate here!!! I’m a new blogger too, so the inspiration to write about it is perfect for me. Thanks!!

    1. Your welcome! Most of us see something we like and copy it for ourselves with our sewing skills anyway. So why not make a determined effort to copy a Designer Original in DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER?

  4. I do love the Valentino Vintage. Throw a little jacket (to hide the age related batwings) in the mix and I would look like a million bucks. Now, not to worry, I am not asking you to make “yet” another outfit for the sister……but you never know what the spring will be.

I am looking forward to seeing your outfit when it is finished. Good on you.

    1. We will get your jacket and skirt finished and then next summer you can buy more and we will get started all over again! Just keep looking! 😃👍

  5. I have just created my Designin’ December Kick-off post. I am not very patient with figuring out how to add badges and things, so forgive me for not linking those – but I am out of the blocks today!

    1. Perfect! That’s okay if you’re not too “techie” with the buttons and badges, just mention my blog to let others know! Looking forward to seeing what you make!

      1. I am just about done! this was more difficult than I thought….my dress looks a but like the country cousin of the designer original, but I love it!

        1. That’s great! It’s your copy of the Designer Original! I’ll keep my eyes open for your post and include it in my post and social media so everyone can see.

  6. Hi Linda. So I now have my plan. I’ll post it later today on instagram and twitter. I hadn’t forgotten about this!

    1. That’s great! I’ll mention it here next post. Looking forward to seeing it when done!

      1. Is it fine with you if I go vintage, and use real fabric this time, even if it’s a donated piece!!

        1. No problem. There have always been fashion designs and styles whether in Marilyn Monroe’s time or our’s. If you have an Original to copy then that’s the one! 🎊💃🎉

  7. Oooo, you’re going to be busy, but so looking forward to seeing all of them!! 🙂

    1. Hahaha – I like being busy… and I have a few days off work too during DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER, what better way to spend them than sewing!

  8. Ohhhh that skirt is so great. Can’t wait to see your version! I’m on a crunch for time since I’m crocheting a mermaid tail blanket for my niece and I have a baby blanket to do for a friend, but I can’t wait to see what everyone comes with.

    1. Thank you! Keep in mind there is always next year! Start early!

      1. Good call. I’ll need to pay more attention on gofugyourself.com to find something I want to copy! 🙂

  9. How can I post my pic to your Pinterest board?? Thanks!

    1. Hello! You follow the DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER BOARD and I can then ADD you as a contributor and then you have access to add photos to the board. I’m at the mall now but I shall check again when I get home. Hohoho!
