What do you think?

We had a lovely Easter long weekend here – the weather was even acceptable!  I hope you had a lovely Easter too.

I didn’t get much accomplished though, but I did manage to browse through some sewing blogs and IG feeds.  I discovered @rocco.sienna @sewsarahsmith and @sewing_in_spain have organized #sewtogetherforsummer on IG again!  I think this year I’m going to organize myself and my sewing and join in!

Last year the theme for #sewtogetherforsummer was Shirt dresses.  I didn’t manage to sew up a Shirt dress, but I have been collecting Shirt dress patterns ever since.

I also managed to recently buy some lovely Shirt dress fabric, 3 meters of 100% rayon.  I’m one step closer!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

This year I am not missing #sewtogetherforsummer.  If you would like to read more about #sewtogetherforsummer you can check out all the details here, but basically:

a.    I have to sew a Wrap dress;  and

b.  by June 21st, I have post it on Instagram, tagging and following properly, of course.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

I’ve already chosen my pattern, McCall’s M5974.  I had it in my pattern stash already so I didn’t have to add to my stash, which is good news … there are way too many patterns and fabrics in our house!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Next I have to decide which knit fabric I should use.  My Mom always said if you want to see if something looks good on you, you have to hold it up to your face.  Of course, setting the 10 second timer on my camera and dashing across the hall and shoeing the cats out of the way and off my fabric and holding up my fabric to my face sometimes took longer than the 10 second timer.  But I did manage to get these photos …

I’ll call this one a “large blue/gray paisley”.  I’m not too sure of the fabric content of this knit, but I used some of it in 2014 to make a top that I still wear and love.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

My second knit, “small blue/white diamonds”.  I don’t know how old this one is.  I haven’t used any of it yet!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

My third knit, “orange chevron/stripes”.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Funny how the pattern almost disappears at a distance.  A closer look …

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

My last choice, “medium blue chevron”.

So tell me please … what do you think?  which fabric should I use for my #sewtogetherforsummer Wrap Dress?

Happy Sewing!

  1. I love the blue chevron!

    1. That design is very blended, isn’t it!

  2. I like them all, but plump for the blue chevron.

    1. Always nice to have a second pair of eyes look at something! 👀😁👍

  3. The medium blue chevron screams Spring.

    1. And hopefully the sun will come out soon so I can enjoy it! Thanks for the input!

  4. I love the blue chevron! It would look great as a dress.

    1. Thank you for the input! Looks like this fabric is in the lead!

  5. We are apparently one note Johnnies on this! Blue chevron, love the sort of Ikat/batik feel it gives.

    1. That’s cute – one note Johnnies – I’ll have to remember that one! Isn’t it nice when we can all agree!

  6. Definitely orange/chevron stripes. Nice bright colour for a summer dress.😑

    1. I thought that was an almost sunny 🌞 colour too! 😁👍

  7. I’m leaning towards the medium blue Chevron, but I love the orange on too!

    1. Thank you! I think I am stuck on those two now. 🤔

  8. I like the the large blue/grey paisley myself, it’s a cool peaceful colour with just the right amount of paisley pizzazz. 🙂

    1. I like that one too. I made a top out of it already and it’s one of my favourites.

  9. I like the orange or the blue chevron. They look the most “summery”. All your fabrics are just gorgeous though (never ask a Libran to make up her mind) and you would look great in them all. I also have that pattern but have never tried it. I will be watching how you get on as I think it looks like such a great design. Xx

    1. Thank you! The pattern is new for me. I’m hoping since it is a Palmer Pletsch I might learn something!

  10. I have a second chance to vote! Medium blue Chevron. It looks summery. I love the fabric

    1. Hahaha. Going to start cutting soon! Still counting votes though! 😂

  11. I am in between the orange or blue chevron. I am leaning more towards the orange. 😀

    1. They are both nice, aren’t they. I will make something with both of them!
