“Mystery Blogger” Award … in other words, let’s get to know each other!

Seam Racer has very kindly nominated me for a “Mystery Blogger” Award!  I thank you kindly – I am so honoured you thought of me!

“Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.” Created by: Okoto Enigma

Here are “The Rules” to the “Mystery Blogger Award”:

  • Thank whoever nominated you and include a link to their blog
  • Tell your readers three things about yourself
  • Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
  • Nominate 10 – 20 bloggers you feel deserve the award
  • Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice, with one weird or funny one
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

So, to start … I have to tell three things about myself:

I have too much fabric for my liking!  Every purchase was originally made with a specific project in mind – so I don’t just buy fabric “willy-nilly”.  Unfortunately along the way I might have decided that I don’t want that dress, or whatever, after all … so now I have some fabric without a plan for it.  Not something I’m comfortable with!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!
I went from 6 bins of fabric down to 5 and the pink one is all “bag” fabric!

I used to have one cat, Tigger, who passed away in her old age.  She was quite loving and a dear addition to our household.  So I went to the SPCA to get another cat.  A pregnant mom cat had just been rescued from a life on the streets and 6 weeks after she gave birth, she and her three kittens were up for adoption. I visited and couldn’t walk away without the two of them – Simon and Sophie.  (Their mother and one sibling had already been adopted.)  Support your SPCA!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!
All grown up!

I work full time and spend a ridiculous amount of time commuting.  I spend my time on the bus reading blogs, looking at Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest – anything regarding sewing!  I have recently downloaded an app that will allow me to plan and draw with precision my bag patterns – something I love doing as I have always been a “bag nut”!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Now to answer Seam Racer’s questions:

  • What everyday tool could you not live without?

My sewing machines.  I have two functional toy ones, a Necchi and a Singer.  I have two sewing machines that still need fixing up, my Ford deluxe and my White.  I have six functional sewing machines:  My Janome 3160QDC, my Janome MyLock 334 Serger, my Singer 15-88 called “Ilona”, my Singer 500 called “Barbie”, my Singer 421G called “Amber” and my Singer Feathweight 221 called “Winnie”.  I almost recently bought a Necchi Supernova but I wasn’t able to find a place for it’s large cabinet in my home!  So I changed my mind.  Maybe if I just bought the machine and not the cabinet? 🤔

  • Do you have a preferred heel height for your shoes?

No longer than my index finger, whatever that is!  That’s how I measure heel height in stores.  It has to be shorter than my index finger.  But seriously, I don’t buy shoes often – sewing machines, Yes!, shoes, No! 👠

  • What is next on your “bucket list”?

To go on vacation in a cabin in the woods by a lake with a wharf.  My husband fishing and me sewing, taking photographs, and reading and writing … for the rest of my life!  I could handle that!  🚣‍♂️

  • Who makes you laugh the most?

My adult children.  They have grown up to be fine, responsible adults, and they sure can make me laugh. 😆

  • Is there a pet that you wish you could have?…no limit!

One pet?  Not fair.  I have a couple of cats that keep each other company and are fun to watch, so I think a couple of dogs would be wonderful for the same reasons!  🐕 🐕

Nominate bloggers I feel deserve the award – in no particular order – I would like to introduce:

Let’s get to know each other!  Here are five questions for my nominees to answer:

  • If you won a lottery what would you buy first?
  • Do you like turnips?
  • Who started you with sewing?
  • How many sewing/serger/coverstitch machines do you have, what kind are they and what are their names (if they have names)?
  • What was the worst sewing project you ever worked on and why?

Thank you Seam Racer!  And thank you to those I nominated who wish to play along!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Linda spending time at a cabin in the woods by the lake sounds like the perfect vacation. Can I come?

    1. Certainly! All family is welcome, especially favourites like you! (Don’t tell the rest I said that!)

      1. I read that, little missy. Just for that I am coming to visit you for a long long time in your cabin in the woods and I won’t be fishing.

        1. Hahaha 😂 alright then! We will just have to teach you how to make macaroons for us then!

  2. Congratulations! And thanks for the detailed answers and the list of bloggers, some of whom I read already, but some who are new to me.

    1. Thanks! Actually those are the reasons I like these “awards”. You get a few personal tidbits and you get to meet someone new! I wish I could have made a bigger list, but time is a factor for me when writing my blog posts… 😕 maybe when I’m at that cabin in the woods by the lake … 🙂

  3. great job making the most of your commute! I have a family friend who commutes 2 hours each way every day, he invested in a laptop and editing software to make the most of his time

    1. That’s the only way to avoid wasting your life away! 😁👍

  4. Oh gosh, I’m on that list! Thank you very much – and I hope I can answer your questions as well as you did. I love the idea of a cabin by the lake just as long as there are no midges.I seem to be every flying insects dream meal 😠.

    1. Haha 😂 I have a sister who suffers the same way! I like sitting beside her so they eat her and not me! 😂

  5. Congratulations Linda!! xoxo

  6. Congrat sis, I know you deserve it. Was interesting getting and bird’s eye view of your inner thoughts.

  7. What a lovely idea, and thank you for nominating me. I shall put some thought into my questions and nominees!

    1. I always enjoy reading your posts Sue! No rush with this, your choice as to wether you want to play along! Looking forward to seeing the answers though! 😁

  8. Here’s a thought you buy a cabin in the woods and this gives you reason to buy the “Getaway” Sewing machine which stays at the cabin so you’re not packing a sewing machine every time you go there.

    1. Perfect! I love a logical reason to buy another sewing machine, maybe I should buy that Necchi sewing machine that was advertised right now, the one I have no room for, … for my future cabin! 😁👍

  9. Thank you so much for thinking of me, and for reading my blog! I’ll work on my responses. I’m also a kitty person and we’ve adopted all of ours, too.

    1. My pleasure! I enjoy reading sewing blogs almost as much as I enjoy sewing! Looking forward to reading more about you! 🐕🐕😻

  10. Thanks for naming me … I feel honored!
I enjoyed reading your article. Now I will think about my answers 🙂 see you soon!

    1. Your welcome! I always love seeing what you make. Looking forward to reading your answers too!

  11. So lovely to read more about you, Linda! Sorry – I should not have restricted my question to one pet…for myself I would love “one of each” – a cat, a fish, a horse, etc. – so I should have worded it differently! I too almost always buy fabric with an intended project in mind, too. Maybe half of the time I stick to the plan…the other half turns into something else or ends up in the air. I’m so glad to be Internet friends with you!

    1. Thanks for the nomination! It’s always nice to get to know one another! 😁👍
