What do you think?

Last week I showed you my Rosie© bag … I’m going to call it “Portrait style”.  This week I’m going to show you my Rosie© bag “Landscape style”.  But I have a simple question … Do you prefer your cross body bags long and skinny (Portrait style) or do you prefer your cross body bags short and wide (Landscape style)?  Let me know in the comments at the end of this post.  What do you think?

My summer cross body bag (a RTW purchase from years ago) is falling apart.  It made perfect sense to just whip up another Rosie© bag for myself.  To stretch my abilities I decided to make it Landscape style this time!

I also decided to use some Pellon 71 Peltex.  This is a firm fusible woven interfacing.  It’s quite thick and quite firm.  My daughter had a bit of a challenge trying to twist and bend it!  See how it hardens this 100% cotton.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

It did a fine job firming up my bag.  I put a magnetic snap pocket on the outside back.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

A zipper pocket on the outside front.

Inside, a zipper pocket and a card slot pocket.

As you can see, exactly the same bag as last week, but Landscape style!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

So help me out now.  What do you think?  PICK ONE!  The Rosie© bag, Portrait style or the Rosie© bag, Landscape style?

Happy Sewing!

STASH BUSTING WITH THIS PROJECT?  Nothing!  Oops! This bag was done with quilting cotton remnants!  Still 130.2 metres left in inventory!

  1. Landscape- easier to get your hand in, and to see what’s what!

  2. Landscape. Easier to find stuff. Great print!

    1. Thanks Jay! I have enough, I think, for another bag or something. It was just under a meter. I love it!

  3. I’m going landscape too. And I love the peacock print 😉

    1. Thanks for the vote! The yellow in this fabric almost glows. It was a lucky find!

  4. I’m going with portrait style because I can stick my hand in and find my phone fast

    1. That’s my sister’s favourite too!

  5. Oh geez. Im reading landscape then portrait. Hmmm. Im leaning portrait or how’s this idea, Ill have one of each! I like portrait because it looks compact and light and I walk to work and Im tired of carrying heavy. I also like landscape because that’s what Im used to. You can’t tell me that women only have 1 purse. They both look great.

    1. 😂 well thank you for the compliment! You’re right a woman needs more than one purse! Perfect logic!👛 👜

  6. (I remembered!) Definitely landscape for my bags, as I hate digging around for things and would love all the details you’ve put into the innards. Just haven’t the interest you have in making such practical & beautiful bags. You’ve got such talent!

    1. Thank you for your kind words! And thanks for your vote! Sometimes I just need to change things up and sew something different than the usual.

  7. Such gorgeous bags. I am leaning towards the portrait style as this is exactly the kind of bag that is handy for festivals or travelling and would be perfect for a passport. That peacock fabric is amazing. Both bags look really fabulous and so beautifully made. Xx

    1. Thank you for commenting and your kind words! I was quite surprised at how vivid the peacock fabric was. Sometimes you get lucky! 😁

  8. Beautiful to die for fabric!! I love the portrait style. So handy and perfect cross-body!

    1. Thank you! It was a lucky fabric find! 😁👍
