Primrose

I did make it with cork exterior. I like the style and size. I plan to make more, maybe with cork or leather or vinyl. The only thing that didn't turn out real well was the two (front and back zippered) exterior compartments tend to pull the middle (magnetic snap) compartment apart, exposing the lining too much. I don't know whether that is a design flaw or maybe because of the foam I used to interface the middle compartment.

Happy you like the pattern! I have made most of my bags etc with cork or vinyl. I have not used foam with cork or vinyl as it is sturdy enough not to need any support, on a bag anyway. Usually I use some medium weight interfacing on the linings. I also try to have pretty linings as they are more exposed than if they were inside a zipper pocket. Maybe if I was making a cork or vinyl backpack I would use the foam for protection and support. I did make a Primrose Purse out of quilting cotton because I loved the design on the material and I used foam for support. It did make the Primrose quite thick to start, but it has “settled” with time! :) If you are concerned about the security of the middle pocket, perhaps two snaps for the middle pocket is a better idea? Thank you for your comments!
