It’s time to think about the Designin’ December Sewing Challenge!

Are you ready? Are you looking for Inspiration? I might have some here for you! I think I have found mine!

Now that I’m retired I’m searching for VERY VERY casual clothes for most of my sewing projects. While searching I did find these lovelies!

These designs from JOHNNY WAS all had beautiful embroidery work … and were quite casual!

These designs from MARINA RINALDI and NEON BUDDHA were quite casual and very practical! Actually, I think I attempted to knit a sweater many years ago that had this kind of gradual fade in and out of colours knitted into it. I am pretty certain mine wasn’t made with Cashmere though! And I am also pretty certain that I never even finished mine! 🙂 The other top reminds me of a sewing pattern I actually saw recently! And I love the softness of the Jersey Jacket!

I found all sorts of lovely inspiration! These designs from ETRO are all lovely, a bit fancy for my needs right now though.

Then I started thinking about a new pair of jeans. I have had the Helen’s Closet Arden pants pattern on my sewing table since the beginning of the year! How about sewing it up now? I could make a really comfortable narrow leg pair of jeans from this pattern. There is an option in the pattern to omit the elastic at the bottom of the legs too.

The search for designer jeans wasn’t that difficult. There are lots available. Not too many I liked though. The ones with the peek-a-boo holes would give you interesting tan lines! What do you think of these?

I did though find MY DESIGNER INSPIRATION for the DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER Sewing Challenge! Love these jeans! I do have a light-weight light blue denim with a bit of stretch that would work nicely. Now I have to figure out how to embroider without an embroidery machine and as little hand sewing as possible (which will lead to sore joints!). I do like the top with this one, but of course I would prefer to dig through my stash of fabrics and patterns first, before I purchase anything to make it. This top seems like a pretty simple style and the fabric should be a print, of course!

Have any of the designer’s photos I posted above inspired you to sew for the Designin’ December Sewing Challenge? Oh please do share your thoughts!

  1. I love embroidery glad to see it is back. I can remember it from way back when and yes, I am that old.

    1. It’s so lovely on these clothes! I’m hoping mine turns out half as well!

  2. Count me in on the challenge again! Your designer inspiration looks fantastic – I can’t to see your version of the fancy-but-still-casual jeans especially! I’ll probably pick vintage inspiration for my Designin’ December project…

    1. Wonderful! I will watch for your vintage loveliness! 😍
