Update on the #DesigninDecember Sewing Challenge!

Whoo Hoo! I have decided on my #DesigninDecember outfit … well the top anyway! This is my Designer Inspiration! A Pucci Printed Poplin Tunic Dress!

I’ve got this wonderful summery fabric, but perhaps not enough though, so I will have to be very careful with my cutting. I must have spent a few minutes trying to decide which way was “up”, not sure why because it seems obvious now! LOL

This McCall’s pattern M7324 will work well, especially view D. I don’t know where I got the pattern! It is already cut to a size, but I have never cut/sewn it myself. I pick up patterns from second hand shops and my lovely sister gave me a couple of boxes of patterns too, so I could have gotten this pattern from either. (Thank you!) I will have to make some changes though, due to the amount of fabric I have. Instead of a “mini” dress, like the Original Design, I’ll have a top and sew up some pants to go with it.

I was wondering why the sleeves were cut with two pieces at first and then I was quite happy they were, as the two narrower pieces fit on my limited fabric better than one large wide sleeve piece would!

Now I was thinking of making leggings to go with my “Pucci” Top and I certainly could use another pair of leggings, but I was unsure. So I went through my fabric stash again. Not only do I have this quality Poly/Spandex leggings material from Our Social Fabric, a deadstock fabric supplier; but I’ve got this pretty blue linen. I cut the leggings out anyway, since they are needed, and I’m going to ponder what I can make for #designindecember out of this beautiful linen.

I hunted around for some Designer inspiration for my linen pants and found these cargo pants from Polo Ralph Lauren that inspire me. A possibility … now I need a pattern! I’ll do a bit more hunting! 🙂

  1. Your top and pants will be great! This is such a popular contest with many talented sponsers, one of them being my favorite. Good luck to all!

    1. Thank you! I’m pretty happy with the top! I will have to plan out the pants still. I’m sure it will all work out! Yes, good luck to all!

  2. If you find a second hand sewing pattern that’s cut or not your size, you can search for the same pattern online. I’ve done this several times and have good luck finding older patterns on Ebay or Etsy.

    1. Good idea, searching for the exact pattern number should bring good results. I was very lucky with this one. It is in exceptional condition, except for being cut to only one size. It is a very flowing top so I shouldn’t have to make much adjustment. Now if it was pants in the wrong size, that would definitely be a lot of work to adjust! How’s your #DesigninDecember going? 🙂
