Hello everyone! The end is near! The end of 2025, that is! I would like to wish everyone who reads my blog, newsletter, follows me on social media, or wherever you see me, a Happy and Healthy New Year! 🥳

Speaking of “ends”, I have a couple of items to pass on about the “Designin December” Sewing Challenge. #designinDecember #designinDecember2025

I would like to extend the deadline date for Designin December entries – the Inspiration Photos and your Designin December creations – just by a few days though, so I can have the time to do this properly.

The new deadline date is Saturday, January 3, at midnight PST.

If I need a couple of more days to organize, I am sure you might too?

The other item I would like to mention is that when it comes to voting, I only use it to set the order in which the sewists are called on to pick their prizes; so I don’t have to choose prizes for anyone and possibly pick something that you might have already, or something that is not quite right for you.  In all the years I have been organizing Designin December, everyone has received a prize from one of our generous sponsors! Voting is entertainment in itself too! I have heard many comments from voters who think it is great fun to vote! It lets them participate, even if they don’t sew!

So let’s share a few more entries!

Here is @frangipanipouch with her inspiration from Visland. You can find the details on her IG here!

Here is @minttu_chocolate You can read about their inspiration on their IG here!

How’s my “Polo Ralph Lauren” Designin’ December quilted jacket coming along? I’m really enjoying this project. I see the thin layer of batting I have sewn in is actually going to keep me quite warm!

Let’s see… I have quilted all the pieces, just following along the flowers and leaves and sewing no where else.

Then after that was done, I cut out all my pieces, including a lining layer as I want a lined jacket.

I sewed up the patch pockets and the hood. Even though my Designer Inspiration doesn’t have a hood, I would like one. I will make it detachable though.

Pressing finished seams is always recommended for flat “pro” looking garments!

Collar and sleeves sewn onto my outer layer and my lining layer. I ran out of beige lining fabric and refused to spend more money on fabric so I dug deep into my stash and found this beige stripe. It will only be used for the sleeve linings, so no one will notice!

Next I’ll sew the Patch Pockets on and sew the outer layer and the lining layer WS together and turn it through the front edges where I want to then sew in my separating zipper. Then I’ll finish off the detachable hood!

I’ll come back and show you when I’m finished!

This is probably the 7th day in a row that Sophie has searched out my Designin December upholstery fabric. Now I just give in and give it to her. How much do you want to bet if I actually sew a cat bed for her from the remnants, she will reject it and adopt another remnant of fabric that I am working on at the moment?

How are you coming along with your Designin’ December sewing challenge entry? I’d love to see and read about it, either on your blog (let me know where it is in the comments here) in the Facebook Group, or on Instagram – please be sure to tag me! Remember the deadline for entries has been extended to this Saturday night! @lanyoshandmade.nicedressthanks #designinDecember #designinDecember2025

    Your jacket fabric is gorgeous!

Thank you very much! It’s upholstery fabric, a lightweight one, used for curtains primarily. I just had a flash back to the “Carol Burnett Show” when she did a skit about Scarlett O’Hara wearing a dress made of curtains… literally made of curtains, still had the curtain rod attached! I think she might have been my inspiration at my young age! LOL
