McCall’s M7093 – Don’t need buttons for this one …

… and I found the perfect buttons for my last project.  But before I show them to you, let me show you what I made with the remnants of my paisley Topaz knit.  I had some of this lovely fabric – 85% polyester, 10% rayon, 5% spandex – left over, just enough.  I think I have made a few of these McCall’s M7093 tops before – one of the other ones I made is here.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

I did a few things different.  After I sewed up the seams of the raglan sleeves I zig zagged some twill tape on them to prevent stretching.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

I had to use Wonder Tape to hem the short sleeves.

Then some zig zagging.

Lastly, some straight stitching on the final turn of the hem.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Single fold bias tape at the neckline – I used a bit of Wonder Tape to hold this stretchy fabric down for sewing.

Single fold bias tape at the hem line.

All done!  Now … front, back, left side, right side!  I’m happy with it and I have used up most of the remnants of my gorgeous fabric!

Still no buttons on my Lisbon … but the two pieces do look great together! 🙂

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Now for my “button” reveal!  My darling daughter bought these home for me from a road trip a while ago and I put them away in a “safe place” to keep for a special outfit.  Well, my Lisbon cardigan is the special outfit!  They are a nice match!  I’ve got some buttonholes and buttons to sew now.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Next project?  My day-to-day tote bag is getting worn, especially at the corners and the straps.  I’m thinking about salvaging the hardware and making myself a new one.  I have a few plans to ponder.

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

What’s your next project?

Happy Sewing!

Those buttons are going to be perfect on your Lisbon and then a bonus tee! You’ve made a twinset! I adore this look.

Talk about a perfect match on those buttons. They look lovely on your matching tops/sweater. You just whip things up and they come out perfect. Nice job.

😂 ya “perfect”! You can’t see or hear the cursing and hair pulling that goes on sometimes! These were easy patterns, thanks for the compliments!

Agree with all that the buttons are wonderful!
(Must remember to look up wonder tape…)
Hope you’re staying warm up there!

Thanks! Well most of Canada is cold and snowy right now. We will get up to 16 C this weekend. No snow, no rain. Our big weather complaint is always the couple of days of snow we get that throws everyone into a panic which is followed by two weeks to a month of rain. ☔️ ☁️

That is interesting, Linda… snow followed by rain. We don’t get much insight into Canadian weather, other than what’s coming down to us in the states. Does that mean your winters are cold but not necessarily oodles of snow?

        1. Linda of Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!! Avatar

Here in the west coast they are like that – cold, not much snow. This past winter it probably snowed 3 times. Then it hovered between frosty and raining. Up in the mountains it snows more often and lasts longer, all winter for the mountainous ski resorts. In the interior provinces when it snows it stays too. That’s probably where your cold winds come from. ❄️🌧🌦🌤☀️

For some reason thought you were more centrally located. My bad – sorry!
Yes, Canadian cold fronts & snow seem to issue forth from central Canada to central US, then move over toward US East Coast, sometimes hitting part(s) of the South, sometimes just going straight up north to New England states.
I did wonder at some of your winter dress choices – now I won’t!
PS/Where do you get your wonder tape?

Oh that’s ok! When you don’t actually meet someone it’s sometimes difficult to remember who’s who! My sister is in Calgary, Alberta, their snowfall was massive and is just melting now. Yuk! I never have been able to match my sewing whims with the seasons though. Either I am too slow to finish in time or I have my eye on something and just make it, practical or not! Wonder tape is sold in the stores here but I find it on Amazon for less money and buy a few at a time.

Yes, agree with your comment on not actually meeting someone… Down here the last 2 years there hasn’t been much sustained colder (50’s F) weather so hadn’t really tried much real winter making. Just bought a Charlie Caftan pattern & will start on spring/summer things quite soon. Thanks for the Wonder tape comment. Will check amazon for it. Happy Mother’s Day if that’s today in Canada!

Hmm! Our Mother’s Day is in May! 😁👍

                    As is ours!
I suggest we celebrate both – what say ye?!

Absolutely! No Hallmark cards though, just brunch out!

Agreed. And flowers – flowers are always grand! 💐

Your top and sweater look great! The fabric is very nice!… I have been cutting hardware off of old purses I am getting rid of. I think it’s a great idea! … Up next for me is an Everyday Tote in princess fabric and cork for my niece and 4 little boy shirts for my nephews… Going to be a busy sewing weekend!

    1. Linda of Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!! Avatar

I love busy sewing weekends! I have some cork fabric for a bag but haven’t cut into it yet. I’ll be watching for your’s!

Such a nice combo there! Those buttons are perfect, too. Isn’t it great when you find something you’d forgotten about, and it’s exactly what you need? 😄

Thank you! Yes that “safe place” has produced many lovely items, eventually, when I remembered they were there!

  6. Siobhan S Avatar

What lovely buttons! And they go perfectly with the garments you made.

It was just luck that I saved them all this time!

Thank you Kim! I can’t begin to count the number of times I have reached for the Wonder Tape!
