I have been busy sewing clothes this month for myself for #MeMadeMay. I found a small container of UFO’s (unfinished projects) and decided they would be sewn up this month… or else!
I have no clue how long these 4 garments have been sitting there, cut out but unsewn, and I couldn’t neglect them any more. I’m not even sure if they will fit me when finished, they have been sitting there so long! LOL
So let’s start with the Toronto Tee and the Citrus Leggings, both great patterns from pattern companies who possibly do not exist anymore? I’m not sure what these knit fabrics are, or where I purchased them, but I do love them both! Look at that print!

The Toronto Tee was easy enough. I sewed the shoulder seams with strips of lightweight interfacing to prevent stretching.

The sleeve caps I reinforced too with stretch seam binding, otherwise my machine just might have eaten up this delicate fabric!

For this project, I chose my Janome HD3000. I’ve had this machine for a while now. I recommend it to everyone as it is a strong mechanical machine with just enough stitch options and special features. I’ve used it for delicate garments, all the way up to my bag making! I’ve discussed it more here. I’m thinking she might be due for a clean up too, but since she’s mechanical, I might just take a look myself!
Here she’s sewing on the fold over facing for the neckline.

Next it was side seams and hemming. I sewed the side seams with the same stretch seam binding and pressed the same lightweight fusible interfacing on the hem line. I wanted the hem to be stronger, more stabilized. Then I folded the hem over once, and twice, and sewed the raw edge inside so that when turned out, there would be a “piping” look (which caught the raw edge) along the hem. I hemmed the sleeves with the same method.

Finished!

On to my Citrus leggings! I love this pattern because it has a centre front and back seam.

Front half, large side piece, and back half sewn together and topstitched. (So difficult to photograph black, right?)

Side seams done and then the usual elastic casing sewn.

Hemming was done in a flash, then I was finished! That was easy peasy too!

Any tips on getting the wrinkles out of something that can’t be ironed??? Spray it with some water and let it hang dry? or gently tumble dry?
There, a couple of easy peasy UFO’s finished and they fit!

Still a couple more UFO’s to post yet, so stay tuned! Happy Sewing and Thank you for reading! 🤗
