My two Cardigans for #MeMadeMay!

Now these two are old UFO’s! Believe me, it took a while for me to figure out which pattern I was even sewing up, since I only had the cut fabric pieces, and nothing else, put away in my little bin.

I finally figured out which pattern it was when I found these photos from JUNE OF 2024 (that’s old!). These photos showed the pattern pieces! Mystery solved! McCalls 4261, a pattern released in 2004! This isn’t much of a surprise to me since I have used this pattern many, many times!

Don’t you just love the Navy animal print Scuba fabric? I think it is going to keep me quite warm! The black is a knit ribbing cut out for cuffs and front facing. Oh! Cutest paperweights I’ve ever seen – these were made by a friend of mine, the pattern designer at Cork and Copper Designs.

Black ribbing sewn on. Too bad the camera isn’t catching the dark navy of the animal print, but it looks and feels great!

It’s a simple sew. Doesn’t stretch much, so I didn’t have to reinforce or stabilize any seams. I did topstitch the seam of the ribbing facing down so it would lie flat all the time.

Now this is a better representation of the dark navy animal print. Can’t remember where I purchased it from but I do wish I had MORE!

Next up was this mysterious green waffle knit – again, I can’t remember and have no record of where it was purchased! It matched my cutting mat!!!

I was sewing up my green cardi and I realized this is another thing that wasn’t meant for the sewing room, but here it is! This green bin hangs off my sewing cabinet door, but is meant to hang off my kitchen cupboard door. When someone is peeling and chopping veggies the scraps can be slid into to here and easily taken out to the compost. I found a better use for it!

Have you got some necessary item in your sewing room that is not really meant to be there, but you couldn’t live without?

LOOK! Can you believe it??? This is how much thread I had left on the spool after finishing my green cardi! (It wasn’t full when I started, but I still beat it!)

Finished! I used every scrap of fabric to make this one. I had just enough! Matter of fact, I had to piece the front facing together to get the long piece. Can you see where I joined the pieces?

There you go! Two #MeMadeMay outfits! No more UFO’s … I think. Maybe I should clean out the hall closet and see what’s hiding in there?

Oh! If you’re curious. The black and white top I’m wearing was a #MeMadeMay top from September of 2014 (amazing how long handmade lasts, isn’t it!) This comfy top was sewn with Butterick 5988 from 2018.

Oh! before I go, I’d like to share my new video. I’m having lots of fun sewing up this set of Cork and Copper Designs Wolfsbane Zipper Pouches!

Happy Sewing and Thank you for reading!
