or “A Tale of Four Tees – #1”
Again we are well into another month and I am well into another challenge. This month it is PatternReview’s turn. I have signed up for their TNT (tried and true) Tee Contest. I am to use one pattern and make four Tee shirts out knit fabrics. I can alter my pattern any way I like but I am to use the same Tee shirt pattern for the base.
I am going to make my Tee #1 sleeveless and I am shifting the front and back bodice pieces 1.5 inches off the centre fold of my fabric at the neckline, so that I can gather the neck and hopefully get a sort of drapey/flowing feel to the Tee.
This is my original Tee shirt pattern, Butterick B5988, view B is my inspiration.
I have pulled fabric from my stash for these four Tees and my first fabric is an ITY knit, made of 92% polyester and 8% Lycra with 50% stretch. I love the “quilted” design on the fabric.
I gathered the neck opening with a long stitch and used my 1/4″ seam foot to sew single fold bias tape around the neck and arm holes and the hem.
What else can I say? Well I discovered the fabric was a little creepy. I felt like I was wearing lingerie or pjs! But I did like the “quilting” design and how the gathered neckline worked out. It did have a nice flow on the front and back bodices.
Today, everyone (except me) was either painting the fence or studying. I could hardly interrupt them for a request to “please take my photo?” So I tried the “Selfie” route! For once I’m doing selfies where my head is deliberately left out of the shot, and not accidentally left out!
I thought I would let Dolly try on my new Tee too.
How do you like my earrings – a throw-back from the 70’s. Did you have a pair yourself? Do you still have a pair like these stashed away somewhere? These matched my Tee so well!
Oh yes, before I forget, back to my post title. I was downstairs jogging on my treadmill and reading lovely sewing blogs on my IPAD Mini. You know… I’m supposed to do the usual walk for 5 minutes, jog for 3, walk for 2, jog for 6, whatever… I always put my IPAD on the treadmill screen so I don’t have to see how poorly I am doing. I read one lovely blog, and then another, and then another… Then I realized that I hadn’t checked my treadmill screen for a while. (I get so distracted.) Apparently I had been jogging for over 15 minutes straight!
Now it is usually when I am sitting on my butt on the couch reading sewing blogs that I lose track of time. This was a nice change!
Reading Sewing Blogs is Good for my Health!
Keep up the Good Work fellow Bloggers – I need the distraction!
