Perhaps you remember my “Sister’s Sewing Projects“, so far I have made three skirts. I have a Mother of the Groom dress half-finished and three other dresses to cut out yet – the Mother of the Groom dress is the most important, obviously!
I want to share with you the proper “model” photos of my sister wearing her skirts, as all I had previously was the photos with “Dolly” wearing them. (oops! She’s called “Petunia” when she’s got my sister’s measurements!)
First we have the skirt called “Picasso’s flowers“.
Next we have the “Snake skin“.
Last we have, the “Clark Gable“.
I notice in this shot my sister was looking up at the ceiling – it must be genetic, I do the same when my photo is being taken. Or perhaps there was a spider up there? Or perhaps she assumed I would cut off her head anyway when I published it? Whatever the reason, she just looked so lovely … and I couldn’t bring myself to chop off her head! Instead I put my watermark blog title up there for her to look at.
It has been fun sewing for someone else. Usually I chose fabric, pattern and notions, all by myself. This time we went together and the choices were all her’s. Usually I am faced with a huge stash of fabric and a couple of boxes of patterns, trying to decide how to put it all together. This time she handed me the fabric and the pattern and said please make me this. Simple! So liberating!
I have her Mother of the Groom dress half-finished now and am looking forward to cutting out her three dresses during my December holidays. I also have my #DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER outfit cut out now and am itching to finish it in time for our office Christmas party and my #DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER post. For the office Christmas party casual, but dressy, is required. I think? I dunno? What does that mean?

Great skirts and I’m really looking forward to seeing the mother of the groom outfit. I’m still thinking about Designing December. I’ve found an outfit I want to copy and I intend to do the top soon but the bottom half may have to wait for that lull between Christmas and new year! Congratulations on getting to two years on the blog!

I am “the sister” and can only say, thank God I have a sister that is willing to sew for me. I used to love sewing and did it all my life but unfortunately I now have rheumatoid arthritis and have to choose my battles. I find sewing just too taxing on my hands and asked my sis if she would make me a MOG dress and she said, “no problem.” Well, you can see what that led too. I am so thankful that she is doing this for me as I still work and needed clothes (that actually fit my shape) to wear to work. Thank you sis, you are a God send. No need to enter me in the contest, thanks again. FYI I had to send the photos cause I just could not let Petunia steal my possibility of a modeling career.
It’s all good! It led to lots of fun projects! Don’t worry Petunia won’t be stealing your modelling career out from underneath you – she is kind of “stiff” and “emotionless” in her poses … and she doesn’t have a head! (You are a funny girl, aren’t you!)
The skirts are even lovelier on their recipient! I was in Joanne’s about 2 hours looking for some Wondertape and they had none. Congrats on your 2-year anniversary! I follow you on wordpress.
Thank you! I know, I almost panic when I want something and I can’t find it! Actually I have found the Wondertape in the Quilting section sometimes. Not someplace I usually go to – quilting looks like hard work and I don’t need another hobby!

Sewing for me is like my zen time. I’ve been very busy as well making Xmas gifts for my entire family. Started back in September. I follow you on WordPress and would love to follow you on IG. What’s the name over there? Btw….love the skirts!!

My favorite sewing tool is my wet-erase pen. I have to mark a lot on my fabrics and I like being able to make the marks disappear. I get lots of use out of my metal hem-marking ruler, too.
Thank you! I have heard about those pens, not tried them yet though, as the chalk pen is my new toy. I am sure I will get around to trying those pens too someday! I have just bought a hem marking ruler on line so when it comes I will have a new toy to play with!

Thank you! Ya, it’s nice seeing the clothes on real people. At first I didn’t want to show my handmades on me, just “Dolly”, then I got used to taking photos of myself, but didn’t show my face, now it’s like what the heck – let the scammers, or the government, or whatever see my face – I’m sure they are interested in what a middle aged sewist/legal assistant is spending her time on! 😉

haha, exactly, I usually cut my head when I am super serius in photos and that usually hapens when i take selfies, or when my hair are a disaster!! yes I follow you in wordpress for months now and resenctly in instagram!!!
I think taking photos is almost the hardest part! 😀
