Busy times! Today I am sewing with my Singer 421G.

Sad news! My Favourite Sewing Machine, my Janome MC8200QCP SE had to be taken into the Shop. There was a new humming noise while I was sewing. I am confident that it just needs a good cleaning since it has been a while since I had it serviced. Fingers crossed!

With “sad” eyes, they told me that it would probably take a month to get it back to me. I replied, “That’s ok, I’ve got others I can use ’til then.” (Have you seen my “About” page with its photos of my sewing machine collection?)

So I will be rotating through my other sewing machines for the next little while. First, Amber my Singer 421G. You can read more about Amber here!

First project up, a new Gemma Bag! I’m going to use Cork from MM Cork Supply and this interfaced Cotton print from Fabricland. Rose Gold Zippers and Hardware from the Moody Sewist.

I took a moment to read up on how to wind the bobbin, thread Amber, and check her tension. Then I was ready to sew! Amber did a lovely job sewing up the cotton lining, putting in the zipper, and sewing the pockets.

Amber did just as great of a job sewing up the exterior Cork layers and sewing the webbing for the strap.

Not much left to do now but attach the strap and take some photos!

How do you like it? I’m loving the Tea cup and Chocolate bar zipper pulls! This is a fab new-to-me Cork combo too!

If you would like to see more photos of the Gemma Bag, check out the Photo Gallery here!

Have you had your sewing machine in for servicing lately? How long did it take? Did you have a backup machine?

Oh! Before I forget! During the last year I moved my Pattern Shop to a new site provider. More importantly, I also moved my Blog to a different site provider, the one you are seeing here.

Let me know if you find any glitches here in the links or anything, as it is still definitely a work in progress and, if you enjoy my posts … Please don’t forget to subscribe, just click on the “Subscribe” button, and you will get my posts directly in your mail.

    Very nice Linda.
    I always admire your work.
Love all the bag’s details, especially the lining.
I have 3- Brother sewing machines that I won at an auction & one prized PFAFF 332.

Thank you for all that you do!

My mom had a machine very much like your Amber. Made me smile to see it again. And your bag is lovely! Such beautiful work.

Thank you! I bought this Singer from FB Marketplace. I met up with a young lady who said it was her grandmother’s. I was quick to buy it as I had never seen one like it before and I knew I would give it a good home. I learned on a Singer but it was a newer “non-metal” model and it didn’t last.

What a nice bag! I have 3 machines at the moment; my new Viking, my mechanical Necchi, and Grandma Necchi, from 1952.

Oh Necchi! I had my eye out for one of those for a long time, but they just aren’t common in our region! Lucky you! (Sorry, new site and your comment got caught in the ether somewhere! Thank you!)
