I’m baaaack!
I promised to return with the finished dress. The Orange Extravaganza I blogged about here. Well it is done. For a moment we thought that it would not be worn to my friend’s daughter’s grade 8 “graduation”, due to the teacher’s strike. No teachers, no school, no grade 8 “graduation” ceremony. Now I don’t want…

Indie Pattern Month and a “New-to-Me”
Some of us already know it is Indie Pattern Month at the Monthly Stitch, and for those who don’t… Well… It is! This week’s challenge is “New-to-Me” – you have to sew up something using a pattern from an independent pattern maker, but it has to be a maker you have never tried before. I…

The Red Top – as easy as pie!
May has been “Sew Stretchy” Month and I am enjoying sewing these knit tops. This one is Butterick B5645 sewn with a 96% polyester 4% spandex. I love patterns that give you a few variations. I have a wild red, white, and black paisley print and a solid black for the sleeves. The pattern is…

Matching stripes!
I have been thinking about matching stripes. I can think of examples when stripes and patterns don’t match in nature, and those are truly beautiful! Otherwise, I think if something is hand crafted the stripes should match. I spotted this lovely polyester spandex knit the other day. It has a perfect design on it, stripes…

So easy you could do it with your eyes closed!
I have to take a slight detour in my blouse sewing schedule. I have noticed some “staples” missing in my work wardrobe – a dark brown skirt and a navy blue skirt. So I grabbed up the easiest quickest pattern I have, McCall’s M6654, and two polyester knits from my stash. Both fabrics are so…

My quick fix and I am really happy with it!
Yesterday’s post resulted in a lovely blue cardigan, McCall’s M6802 ….. that needed some improvement. The pattern instructions suggest to leave the bottom and collar edge rough or to hem the bottom and collar edge up as usual. The problem with that is the bottom hem continues up into the collar hem, which then…
