Almost missed the boat with this one…

Well, I had plans.  I had plans to use this beautiful fabric (100% rayon Batik) with my Butterick Retro dress pattern B5920.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough fabric.  No matter how much I measured and twisted and turned the pattern pieces, I just didn’t have enough fabric.

  • Finished … is it a Success?

Finished … is it a Success?

I thought I would show you what I have been up to this past week.  I have finally finished my black cardigan, McCall’s M7055.  A McCall’s “Learn to Sew for Fun” pattern.  When I opened the pattern envelope, I was surprised to find it was nothing but a CIRCLE with sleeves!

  • I’m still here!

    I’m still here!

No, I haven’t run off to join the circus.  Yes, life has gotten a little busy right now but it’s interesting that during all the commotion, I am still dreaming of my sewing projects – past, present and future! What am I (still) working on?  My McCall’s M7055.  I am hoping it will look great…

McCall’s “Learn to Sew for Fun”

Perhaps you remember?  I wanted to make a shrug to match this dress… Then my eyes fell on this cardigan.  I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the pattern envelope and found out it was a circle with sleeves.  I have seen these patterns on Pinterest (for free).  This is going to be easy!…

What I liked, didn’t, and still wanna do!

Over the last few weeks I’ve had a lot of non-sewing time which I just couldn’t tolerate.  To pacify myself, I spent my spare time reading sewing blogs – a lot of them had their roundups of last year. It made me think about what I liked, didn’t, and still wanna do with my sewing. So…

It’s DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER! And I’m So Pleased!

It’s done!  And I’m so pleased!  For a while now, I have been eyeballing this outfit from Marina Hoermanseder.  I just had to have it!  Of course, it’s not my style to wear short shorts to work, so instead I opted for the longer look of wide pants, or  culottes.  Here’s Marina Hoermanseder’s ORIGINAL…

    DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER! Speechless

Just Speechless…  Tonight for DESIGNIN’ DECEMBER I have the pleasure of introducing the one and only Mads of Life in A “Mads” House.  Mads might have come to her design in a roundabout way but she has made a lovely copy of this designer dress by Elie Saab.
