I got nominated for a “One Lovely Blog Award”!

Thank you to Creeping Tyme’s Blog for nominating me for a “One Lovely Blog Award”!  I love reading Creeping Tyme’s Blog, she can knit up some really beautiful projects!  You should go check it out!

What is a One Lovely Blog Award? This award is given to bloggers by other bloggers, of course there are rules to this game, so if you would like to play along, all you have to do is:

1.  Thank and link back to the blogger who nominated you;

2.  Follow the blogger who nominated you;

3.  List the rules and display the award;

4.  List seven facts about yourself;

5.  Nominate your own Top Ten Bloggers (let them know on their “About” page).

Seven facts about myself?  Well…

1.  I fall asleep on my bus commute to and from work regularly, whether I am reading blogs or books or writing posts.

2.  I have had the same employer for 35 years.

3.  I have two cats.

4.  I will eat almost anything that’s chocolate.

5.  I jog on my treadmill lots to counteract eating all that chocolate.

6.  I like mysteries and science fiction and horror.

7.  I have been sewing since I was little and never knew until about a year ago that there were other sewists out there who could share their projects with me and I with them!

and… My Top Ten:

1.  J.A.M. – JOANNA’S ARTISTIC MUSE – a blog about her art work.

2.  ACCIDENTAL SEAMSTRESS – a blog about up-cycling clothes.

3.  SEWING WITH SCOOBY SNACKS – a blog about sewing and baking.

4.  UTA SEWS – a sewing blog.

5.  JUST SEW THERAPEUTIC – a sewing blog.

6.  MAKING AND MARKING – a crafty blog.

7.  NAVY BLUE THREADS – a sewing blog.

8.  FABRIC, THREAD, CLOTHES? – a sewing blog.

9.  SATURDAY NIGHT STITCH – sewing, knitting blog.

10.  WHAT GLADYS WORE – a sewing blog.

Now you don’t have to play along, your choice, but I just want to let you know that you are lovely!

Happy Sewing!

Just a babe in the woods… but safe woods!

… if you know what I mean.

I will try not to talk too much (haha) as the washing machine is spinning and there are many loads to take care of today.

I just wanted to say a heartfelt “Thank you!” 🙂 to the person(s) who nominated me for BurdaStyle’s  “Best of Blogging Top 50 Awards“.  If you go there you can see other babes like me (haha) and world wide superstar sewing bloggers too!

I love to sew, but I love to look at projects done by others too – that I could not do from the safety of my own home – so off into the woods I went.

I discovered this generous blogging community and now I love to sew and blog about sewing and especially read other blogs about sewing.  In this community you can learn from others and be inspired by others, discover on-line classes and new indie patterns…  I could just go on forever about what I have found!  I recommend to anyone out there – if you have something you love to do, do it, then blog about it, you won’t regret it whether you are a babe in the woods or a world wide superstar!

I have to go now. The washing machine has stopped spinning and is calling to me.  But I earnestly thank whoever nominated me and I welcome everyone to go here to see all the lovely nominees, many of whom I already follow and adore, and many of whom I am going to check out, and while you are there don’t forget to vote by Sept 8th for your favourites too!

Thank you!

Happy Sewing!

I got nominated for a Liebster Award!

Thank you to Sewing with Scooby Snacks for nominating me!  It is sew 😉 special when I get likes and comments and now this recognition!

I love reading Sewing with Scooby Snacks, she really has a knack for making designer jeans!  You should go check out her blog!

What is a Liebster Award?  This award is given to bloggers by other bloggers.

The Rules:

1. Post the award on your blog.

2. Thank the blogger who presented this award and link back to their blog.

3. Nominate 11 bloggers who you feel deserve this award and who have less than 200 followers.

4. Answer 11 questions posted by the presenter and ask your nominees 11 questions.

I will have my nominations and their questions in my next blog.

Now to answer Sewing with Scooby Snacks questions:

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?  Chocolate (any kind) and anything chocolate covered (except insects).

Why did you start your blog and how long have you been blogging?  I started my blog in November of 2013 because I was reading other excellent blogs and felt like a stalker because I didn’t have one of my own for them to read.

What is your favorite post that you have ever written? (please provide the link) My very first, because getting Dolly meant I was serious about sewing everything.

Tell us 5 random facts about yourself.

1.  I have run a couple of dozen 10 km races and consistently never won!

2.  I try to read my iPad novels or WordPress blogs while on the treadmill and quite frequently mess up my iPad and subsequently… I quite frequently fall off my treadmill!

3.  I don’t count bad things in “threes” but in “fours”!

4.  I fall asleep on the bus all the time, and in the car too – not while driving though.  I stop at Tim Hortons for a LARGE coffee at the beginning of every road trip and a bathroom break at the end of every road trip.

I think that was actually SIX…

or FIVE…  I talk too much (and wave my hands around when I do it – just ask my poor brother-in-law who has to sit beside me!)

What project have you created that you are most proud of? (crafts or cooking) My coat, so far.  It took forever, but I love it! AND now I want to make a spring/fall one and I want to do this and I want to do that… I want… I want… I want…

What is your all time favorite movie? Tough one!  Hmm “Shawshank Redemption”, “Shutter Island”…. Hmm, I think those are all prison movies!  Oh! “Sherlock Holmes”!

What sparks your creativity? Going to clothing stores and seeing things made in other poor countries, poorly made, and/or cheaply made.

If you could live anywhere, where would you live? Here

If you could have one wish, what would it be? To have enough money to be able to not work at my day job and sew and go for long hikes whenever I wanted instead.

What is your favorite restaurant? “Mychosen Cafe” – way out here in the boonies.

What has been your biggest challenge? Life’s a challenge, but everyday is a lesson!

Happy Sewing!

(time for house cleaning now, but I’ll be back)
