Do you remember my last Lányos Handmade Newsletter … showing how my garden was growing? I just had to show you today how much things have changed in just a month! (If you’d like to sign up for the Lányos Handmade Newsletter and missed the pop up box when you came to this site, there is another one on our “Contact Us!” page in the top menu.)
This was May …

This is now! Beautiful!

I hope you are well and perhaps things are getting a bit back to normal for you, your family and your friends. Things are slowly loosening up here but there is a ways to go yet.
So what’s new? Tomorrow is the day! The day of the (Virtual) Walk to End ALS. Even though we are not actually meeting to walk, we are each doing our own thing to help. I have already seen some participants posting their Walk on Facebook today, but I have mine planned out for tomorrow.
So keep your eyes on your social media tomorrow, June 20th. I intend on jogging on my treadmill in my low-ceilinged, dark, dank basement amongst the boxes of Christmas decorations, the obsolete computer graveyard, an old stove, a couple of vintage sewing machines that need lovin’ and the wood (sow?) bugs and spiders. Sounds like fun! I’ll post a photo or two here tomorrow for sure!
I want to thank you all for indulging me and supporting my ALS fundraising efforts these past months. Kind words, “likes” and “shares”, buying a mask from me, or donating, I thank you all!
I plan on continuing to donate the sale proceeds from my masks to ALS, although we all hope that one day soon no one will need to buy face masks anymore.
I’ve decided that I want to continue my fundraising efforts in 2021 with another ALS fundraising product in my Lányos Handmade Shop. What should it be? Any ideas? Leave me a comment!
In the meantime, Stay Safe!
I’m really happy with my mask. I find now is the time to wear it more than ever. I feel comfortable in my immediate area not wearing one, but when I walk into the city, yikes! There’s no social distancing and I feel much more comfortable wearing one. I will be doing my virtual walk/run too. I liked your sentence computer graveyard.
Thanks, happy to hear your mask helps. Even if it reminds other non-mask wearers that there is a pandemic and they should be having a physical distance. I hear they are recommended on transit and ferries now too. Looking forward to seeing your virtual walk! 🏃🏼♀️🐕 (you can use the term “computer graveyard” in your books anytime, my pleasure! 😉)
My husband and I wear our Lanyos masks whenever we go out to the grocery store or the doctor, any place where social distancing is a problem. Masks keep everyone safer.
On a completely different note, your flowers are beautiful. Are they peonies?
Thank you! My husband tells me they are peonies. He’s the gardener, and an excellent one. I just try to buy ready made flowering pots and try to remember to water them! Stay safe!
How do I order masks from you? They look great. Thanks!
Thank you Jill! I have them listed in my Shop and here BUT I would prefer people email me at lanyoshandmade@gmail.com since the $10 cost is going towards ALS fundraising. That way I can get details from you on what style, elastics or ties, colour/print you like!
Hi Linda,
All growing very beautifully in your garden!
I want to thank you for all that you’re doing to sew various print design masks for others. As well as offering some of the proceeds to ALS Fundraising.
You’re very inspiring & will continue to reap what you sew (sow)!😄
Thank you, the gardening is actually my husband’s talent! And if I may say, actually all the proceeds go to ALS, I volunteer my time and my supplies. I just had to do it! Thank you!
Thanks for your fundraising efforts. The masks are great and it never hurts to be careful. We will eventually get back to normal but now is the time to just stay the course.
I agree! Thank you for reading and commenting!
