The news you have been waiting for!

I won’t delay the announcement of my giveaway winner by entertaining you with details of my latest sewing project.  I’ll save that for my next post!

We are all here to find out who is the winner of the Clover 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge from Nancy Zieman.

But first let me thank you again for another lovely year of sewing and blogging!  And thank you for all your comments last week!  I have met so many friendly, talented sewists and bloggers over the past years – It’s  just been FAB!

I’m getting distracted though!  On to the giveaway …  I asked Simon if he would assist in choosing the winner …

No help there!

So I resorted to putting all names in a hat and closing my eyes and pulling out …

LET’s have some drumroll!

Happy Sewing!

How rude …

I almost let the day pass without saying “Thank you!”  I love being connected to the sewing and crafting community through social media!  Today, I have been blogging for four years, organizing Designin’ December for three years and enjoying a RTW fast for almost two years.  From my first post through to Designin’ December, it’s been great fun!

IT’S TIME TO

I have a bit of a THANK YOU GIVEAWAY.  If you would like to have your name  included, just leave a comment below letting me know all the ways that you follow “Nice dress!  Thanks, I made it!!”  Wordpress? Happy Sewing!

and the winner is!

I just took a break from my mending.  Yes this weekend it is mending – boring! – to write all your names from last week’s Give away post on pieces of paper, put them all in a hat (actually a bowl that had two cookies in it previously and now holds nothing but folded names and crumbs) and pull out the winner of the Chaco Liner Pen and the Wonder Tape.

Let me show you… almost real time!

I have proper photos … and a Give Away!

Perhaps you remember my “Sister’s Sewing Projects, so far I have made three skirts.  I have a Mother of the Groom dress half-finished and three other dresses to cut out yet – the Mother of the Groom dress is the most important, obviously!

I want to share with you the proper “model” photos of my sister wearing her skirts, as all I had previously was the photos with “Dolly” wearing them.  (oops!  She’s called “Petunia” when she’s got my sister’s measurements!)  Continue reading

As good as done!

…well… my blue jeans are ALMOST as good as done.  I know you have probably heard that before, but the long weekend has come and family is home and there is family to visit and I am surrounded by fun!  But I promise… SOON!

In the meantime, I thought I would celebrate my new blog theme and my long weekend with a GIVE AWAY!  Yes, you heard me right!

I have been using Angela Wolf’s Craftsy course, Sewing Designer Jeans, and Sandra Betzina’s Craftsy course, Pant Fitting Techniques, and her Vogue pattern V2948, to practice fitting my black denim Capris and my blue jeans (not to be unveiled yet!).

il_fullxfull.223842576

I ended up with two copies of this pattern when I purchased Sandra’s two Craftsy courses (one came with each course).  I’m happy to share!  This pattern is “all sizes” too!

If you are interested… Please let me know by leaving a comment below answering a skill testing question – What was the first item you remember sewing for yourself?

I’ll start.  The first garment I sewed for myself was a pink polyester “pant suit” – it had hipster bell bottom pants and a tunic T shirt top AND at that time, it was not a vintage pattern!  The polyester was as hard as cardboard and scratchy and the pants kept slipping down at the back every time I sat down!

Your turn!

(My Give Away closes next Thursday, April 9th at midnight my time.  I’ll post the winner next weekend.)

So until then, Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate and Have a Lovely Weekend to everyone else!

Happy Sewing!

Whoot! Whoot! Whoot!

It’s time to announce the winners of last week’s giveaway!  I used a List Randomizer on Random.org to pick the winners.  I typed in all your names, pressed “go” and it randomly sorted your names, with the first two names being:

1. UtaC
2. Sewing with Scoobys

I did the same for my two pattern names and came up with this:

1. Simplicity 9224
2. McCalls 4106

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

So that means UtaC won Simplicity 9224.

Almost a year of blogging …

… and I am STILL here!

No you’re not getting rid of me that fast.  Once me and “Dolly” got hooked up, there was no stopping us!  We seem to be enjoying ourselves too much!! Planning, sewing, posting, reading your posts, learning, being inspired, reading and replying to comments … this addiction just goes on and on!

So to celebrate, we have put together a little GIVEAWAY, yes, I said GIVEAWAY!

As I said in last week’s post, I have been sorting through two boxes of sewing patterns given to me by my sister and I have found some vintage ones.  Let’s give some away, shall we?  I have two patterns.  Two patterns means two winners!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!

I will pick two random winners for these two patterns.  Please let me know if you would like to be entered in the giveaway by leaving a comment and answering my “skill testing question”…

If you could sit on this bench and chat for 1 hour with anyone from the past or present who would it be…??

To start things off, I’ll answer first.  I think my Aunt Helen.  I have always been curious to know what kind of training/education she received in the 1920’s to become a seamstress who could make garments without sewing patterns.

You’re next!

My Giveaway will close on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at midnight PST and the two random winners will be announced next Saturday, November 15, 2014.

(Giveaway not open to relatives.  Just be patient with me though, as I don’t know how to mail a letter anymore in this techno age.)

Happy Sewing!
